Why Are We So Obsessed With The Rich List?

Last week on Sunday marked the release of the infamous Sunday Times Rich List 2010 where you can browse through all the rich millionaires and billionaires that make the list in the UK. You can also look at The World’s Billionaires in 2010 as released by Forbes !
So the question is this – Why are we so obsessed with the rich list? (OK, this may not apply to everyone but most people in the business community are always very keen in knowing who’ve made it to the list!)
Let’s look at 3 possibilities here:
1) Business research – To find potential profitable markets that you can start.
2) Business mentor – To read and understand more about these businessmen and how they got to be so successful in business.
3) Lifestyle - To find out what they are buying, where they shop, properties that they own, private jets etc.
